I'm European, my friends live allover the country, I go allower the country and I love the travels and other cities. During co*ona I was forced to stay in my city and just like everybody else, we all become nuts. Yes, if you're a loner and a weirdo, you'll like that and stay indoors but I like to see a lot of people and don't like to feel that I need to stay in my boundaries. These are just old community, not slum. Actually property owners will be very rich when developer come. They typically will offer handsome compensation to acquire these old property, tear down and build new high rise apartments.

It's kind of like a much nicer Kowloon Walled City. Insanely dense, but quiet, orderly, and clean. There are quite a few cities in North America that could really use high density walkable neighborhoods due to the housing crisis. While they might not want something as narrow, rustic, and crowded as this, the idea of having 4-6 story mixed use buildings closely packed and connected by narrow, pedestrian oriented pathways is a viable model for building transit oriented developments and walkable neighborhoods without needing high-rise towers. So many young people would kill for neighborhoods this dense, vibrant, and affordable in their cities.
